Today is what you have

Don't wait for the perfect day or time to take action towards improving your life. Today is the day

In February this year (2020), I went parasailing over the Arabian Sea and took surfing lessons on its gorgeous waters in South India.  Little did I realize that two months from that day, the place would be on lockdown. At this point, even if I had all the resources in the world, I cannot do it again.
I don’t know what you were doing two months back or two years back. But I bet, you never dreamt that the city, nation, and world would be in a shut-down mode to such an extent. If you knew then what you know now, what would you have prioritized differently? How would you have maximized your life, your resources, and the opportunities presented?
Many times we live our lives pushing things for 'tomorrow' and 'another day' and neglect our TODAY. This lockdown period has definitely changed our perspective on a number of things. Stuff that we held in high value has now lost value. Still, we are discontent and restless and just waiting for things to normalize.
Today, each one of us is waiting in anticipation for when the lockdown period will end, for a solution to this pandemic. Unfortunately, we still don’t know when it will happen, how will it happen, and whether things will get better or worse. We do not know about next month or next year.
To make my point, we cannot do anything about our YESTERDAY and our TOMORROW is not really in our control. But, what we are certain about is our TODAY and our NOW. So, are you making the most of NOW? How are maximizing your time, your energy, your finances, and other resources TODAY? Here are some of the thoughts on how to maximize this season of waiting.

  • Connect with your team, colleagues, family, and dear ones at a different level
  • Build your professional presence online and explore new connections for your business.
  • Review your past accomplishments, reflect on the lessons learned and apply it to future plans- whether job, business, or home.
  • Develop your skills and learn new ones. There are lots of resources/courses/coaches still available. Whether you are an amateur professional or an established businessman, learning never ends
  • Discover your purpose in life if you have never taken time to before.
  • Declutter your life( I will share tips on decluttering in the following days).
  • Adopt practical steps to balance your Spirit, Mind, and Body
  • Indulge in a new hobby (within the lockdown restrictions). Don't put things off for retirement. Like I said, who knows about TOMORROW?
  • Seeks ways to give back -- from sending money and food to those in need to sending ‘Thank You notes to the garbage collector and store clerks, there are innumerable ways for each one to be a hero to somebody.
  • Seek out things you can be grateful for. Gratitude is proven to have a positive effect on the mind and body.
  • Don’t forget to relax, live, smell the roses, enjoy the sunsets( if you can), seek wonder in the mundane and extraordinary in the ordinary.
